Povar\n\n	Virginia Economic Development Partnership\n\n	\n\n	Learn about the strategic focus of VEDP\, existing industries assistance\, and how VEDP works with local economic development offices.\n\n	\n\n	A native of Fort Wayne\, Indiana\, Elizabeth Povar is the Vice-President for Business Expansion for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. The BX Department is responsible for leading VEDP's Existing Business Growth Strategy\, its Ally Communications strategy\, and its Higher Education Partnership strategy. From 2003   2012\, she served as Director of VEDP's Business Development Division. Corporate clients include major technology and advanced manufacturing companies such as Microsoft\, Rolls-Royce North America\, Merck\, DuPont\, United Health\, SAIC\, Barr Labs\, and the SRI Institute.  Prior to joining the Partnership in January 1995\, she served for ten years as Director of the Emporia-Greensville Industrial Development Corporation\, a local rural economic development agency. She is a graduate of Bluefield College with a B.S. degree in Organizational Management and has held her Certified Economic Developer designation in 1997.  She is a past President of the Virginia Economic Developers Association and co-founder of CARES (Children Are Really Extra Special)\, a rural business-education partnership. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program\, the Virginia Community College's Career Pathways Task Force\, is a member of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce's Health Care Committee\, and serves on the board of LEAD Virginia.
