Pittsylvania Historical Society is sponsoring a tobacco program at the Agricultural Center outside of Chatham. The program will feature Leon and Nancy Compton. Leon has a had a wide range of experiences and a wealth of knowledge about tobacco's history in the county as well as its processing. Nancy will display her paintings, which have been very popular prints that show the growing, harvesting and sales of tobacco. The Tobacco Exhibit at the Center will be a valuable tour for those who wish to see implements and other paraphernalia associated with tobacco's history, which has paralleled the history of Pittsylvania County. Admission is free.
