About Us

Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services, created in 1972 by a joint resolution of Danville City Council and the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, is the Community Services Board that provides mental health, developmental, substance use, and prevention services to the citizens of our City and County. A 15-member Board of Directors, which is appointed by Danville City Council and the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, establishes policy and direction for the Agency. Today, Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services has grown to be a large employer in Southside Virginia, with nearly 300+ staff positions and an annual operating budget in excess of $25 million. Each Fiscal Year, DPCS directly serves 5,000+ individuals through behavioral health and developmental services. Prevention services reach more than 20,000+ citizens of Pittsylvania County and Danville City.
