About Us

The Wendell Scott Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of NASCAR Hall of Famer Wendell Scott Sr., the first African American to win a race at NASCAR’s highest level. Through a focus on education, community engagement, and cultural preservation, the foundation serves as a beacon of inspiration and empowerment, particularly for underserved youth. We aim to advance the causes Wendell Scott championed on and off the racetrack: resilience, equity, and opportunity.

We offer a variety of educational programs, including our Steer Into STEM initiative, which introduces students to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The Wendell Scott Legacy Scholarship and Legacy Leaders program provides financial support and mentorship to young leaders pursuing higher education. Additionally, we host community-building events such as the Wendell Scott Legacy Gala and Legendary Conversations, which bring together leaders and supporters to celebrate diversity and the importance of historic preservation.

The Wendell Scott Foundation is also working on creating the Wendell Scott Museum in Danville, VA, which will honor Wendell Scott's groundbreaking achievements and inspire future generations.

By supporting the foundation, you are helping us continue Wendell Scott’s trailblazing legacy, investing in youth empowerment, and driving meaningful change in our communities.
